It is the heart of Prlekija (the capital of Prlekija) and the Municipality of Ljutomer. It boasts a rich cultural heritage. It is also known as the city of trotting, film and wine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lotmerk, as it is called locally, is known for the first Slovenian camp, which took place in August 1868; demands were made on the fundamental rights of nations, the official use of the Slovenian language and United Slovenia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It also has a century-old tradition in the sport of trotting (a breed of horse &#8211; the Ljutomer trotter).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is the site of the first film recording in Slovenia. In 1905, Karol Grossmann from Ljutomer made the first Slovenian film (short clips). To this end, the Grossmann film and wine festival is organized in Ljutomer every year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From the heart of Prlekija came many important men who worked in Slovenia and some abroad: linguist Franc Miklo\u0161i\u010d, author of the first Slovenian film score Karol Grossman, poet and playwright Cvetko Golar, academic painter Ante Trstenjak and many others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On the edge of Prlekija (Ljutomer) is a hilly area made of tertiary marls and clay, which is an important wine-growing area of \u200b\u200bSlovenia.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first self-service store on Slovenian soil was also opened here.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1717994734070{padding-top: 40px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13235&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13141&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Ljutomer is a town in Prlekija in the northeastern part of Slovenia.
